Turning an Early Ambition Into a Broadcasting Career

Roslin told The Independent that she had wanted to present television since childhood.

Her presenting credits include Motormouth and The Big Breakfast. She also became a regular presence on Children in Need, combining live broadcasting with fundraising appeals.

Television established her public profile, while radio later became another substantial part of her working life. Across these formats, her roles have included interviewing guests, speaking with listeners and presenting stories connected with charitable causes.

Establishing a Lasting Place in Radio

She began co-presenting BBC London’s weekday breakfast programme in January 2010.

A later appointment brought her to Magic Radio’s Saturday morning schedule. Bauer Media announced the role on 6 January 2025, with her first programme scheduled for 25 January, between 10am and 1pm.

The announcement described a programme featuring guest interviews and listener conversation. Roslin welcomed the opportunity and spoke about joining listeners at the start of their weekends.

Her radio work has also included a community-focused programme for BBC Local Radio, giving space to people helping others in their local areas.

Extending Her Work Through Books and Podcasts

Roslin’s book Spread the Joy was first published by HQ, part of HarperCollins, in 2023. A later edition followed in October 2025.

The book brings together personal stories and small practical suggestions for finding and sharing enjoyment in everyday life. Its emphasis is on manageable actions rather than major changes.

Her podcast, Reasons To Be Joyful with Gaby Roslin, approaches the subject through conversation. Produced by Spiritland, it features guests discussing what brings them happiness, extending her interviewing work beyond scheduled television and radio programmes.

What Roslin Has Said About Shyness and Personal Growth

Speaking on the Second Act podcast in March 2026, in comments reported by Woman & Home, Roslin described longstanding shyness. She said that social occasions could leave her feeling physically unsettled, despite the confidence people might associate with her presenting work.

She also explained that speaking openly about shyness had prompted messages from people who recognised the experience.

Roslin said she felt less shy after stopping drinking. Knowing what she would order and being able to drive home helped her feel more comfortable. She described the change as straightforward for her, while acknowledging that other people can find giving up alcohol much harder.

Walking and Small Daily Habits

In the same interview, Roslin connected her decision to stop drinking with her enjoyment of walking. She said she disliked losing opportunities to walk because she felt unwell after drinking.

She also recommended deliberately smiling on waking and approaching the mirror without immediately concentrating on perceived flaws. These were personal suggestions about everyday habits, rather than medical advice or a treatment programme.

Supporting Emergency and Public-Health Causes

London’s Air Ambulance Charity announced Roslin as an ambassador on 7 December 2022. The previous day, she had visited its helipad at the Royal London Hospital and met members of the team.

Her support included the charity’s Up Against Time appeal, which sought to replace its two helicopters by 2024. At the announcement, she expressed pride in backing the emergency care provided by the service.

Roslin has also spoken publicly about bowel-health awareness. In an April 2025 interview supporting The Toilet Talk campaign, she linked her involvement to her father Clive’s experience of bowel cancer. She encouraged people to overcome embarrassment, discuss symptoms and speak to their doctor.

Using Broadcasting to Celebrate Community Action

Writing in Radio Times on 5 June 2026, Roslin described her weekly Sunday Make a Difference programme for BBC Local Radio, which features people supporting their communities.

Her article coincided with the first Make a Difference Day, held during Volunteers’ Week. She encouraged readers to consider practical ways of contributing, including checking on a neighbour, giving time or joining a local group.

Roslin’s argument was that helping others need not begin with a large commitment. She placed value on ordinary, repeated acts of support and the connections people can develop through volunteering.

Roslin’s Verified Work in 2026

Her television work in 2026 included presenting The Joy of Pets alongside veterinary surgeon Dr Bolu Eso.

ITV’s programme listings identify the pair as presenters and describe stories about animals and their owners. Listed instalments carry dates of 23 and 30 August and 6 and 13 September 2026.

The programme adds an animal-focused presenting role to her interviews, radio broadcasting and community work.

A Career Centred on Conversation and Community

Roslin’s broadcasting experience now sits alongside writing, podcasting and charitable work. Conversation remains central: listening to guests, discussing everyday experiences and introducing audiences to people supporting their communities.
